"Confidence, grace and openness are the trademarks of a world-class entertainer. But these characteristics are just as important when entertaining guests in my home."
I approach hosting a party in the same way I approach performing. It’s all about confidence, having grace, style and a bit of elegance—and most importantly, being open. That’s how you Host Beautifully.
Once you’ve invited a great group of people over, created a playlist to keep the party vibe going, and served some wonderful food and drinks that your guests are enjoying, let the night be unpredictable. Let the conversations flow. Let the fun flow...the dancing, the eating, the drinks, the laughter. Let the chemistry of the night move to where it’s going to go. If you happen to have some unexpected guests who heard from a friend of a friend about your party, don’t even worry about it. Be open. Some people might be concerned about who’s going to crash their party, but I get excited: I’m always wondering, “Who’s going to crash my party?” Sometimes the party crashers provide that extra dynamic your party needs. So be open about it, embrace the magic of the party and how it’s flowing.
To host beautifully, going with the flow is the best advice I can offer. You never know what’s going to happen, how wonderful your party will be, or how much you and your guests are going to enjoy themselves. Being open...that’s what it’s all about.
